1. Write your essay

In a writing practice session or a practice test, write your response to the Task 1 or Task 2 prompt. Every essay you submit is graded. There is no limit on how many essays you can submit.

2. Click "Submit Answer"

Magoosh AI starts grading as soon as you submit. You will see a "We're grading your essay answer" notice while it works. Grading usually takes a minute or two.

In a practice session, your score report is available at the end of the session. In a practice test, your score reports appear on the results page after the test, and the writing band shows once every task is graded.

3. Read your score report

Your score report shows a band score estimate, a score for each IELTS writing criterion, detailed feedback, and suggested edits to your essay. Open it from the "View your Score Report" link, or later from the Review page in the top menu.
